Synth-pop masters Depeche Mode returned to Portland for the first time in 17 years on Monday playing to a packed Moda Center as part of their worldwide Global Spirit Tour supporting their 14th studio album Spirit released in March. Missing Tom Petty

Don’t be surprised in the coming months, or even years, if you run into people who did not realize Tom Petty died. Unfortunately he did. And, unfortunately he died the day after the biggest mass shooting in United States’ history because the news kind of got swept under the rug. Mourning his passing felt a bit trivial. Concert Review: Coldplay Performs Their Best Show Ever

On an emotionally charged Monday the day after a mass shooting in Las Vegas at an outdoor country music concert, and on a day America lost a music legend, Coldplay offered a respite from the world to some 20,000 fans who forgot about life for a while.
